Legend

Hermanus is probably best known as one of the world’s premier land based whale watching spots, and the pleasure of watching these gentle giants in action has thousands of tourists flocking back every year.

On offer is also a whole host of other activities, catering for all varieties from the seekers of peace and quit to the adventurous.

Scenic cliff path walks, see-kayaking, some of the best fynbos nature reserve you can find anywhere, wine routes – the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in the Glen Vauloch mountain offers opportunities for all wine lovers to savour wines of origin. Fishing, scuba diving, paint-ball, bird watching, scenic drives, coral reefs and lots more.

Hermanus boasts the only whale crier in the world, and what a pleasure to watch him at work!

Beaches - Onrus beach, Langbaai, Kammabaai,  Voëlklip and Grotto beach – between these beautiful beaches Hermanus offers something for every sun seeker.

Whale watching season starts in June every year, but daily sightings during peak whale season is just about guaranteed – August to end October. Calves are mostly born during August and September.
